Welcome to Colorado!  It is the home of the cheeseburger, whose patent was awarded to Denver resident Louis Ballast in 1935. The state houses over 200 state wildlife areas.  On top of state lands, the federal government owns nearly one third of land in the state.  Some of those federally held lands are landmarks in the military.  It is the home of the Air Force Academy, located in Colorado Springs.  It is also the only state in history to turn down the Olympics.

If you are a cowboy…or girl, you will love the largest rodeo in the world.  The Western Rock show can be viewed next time you are in Denver.  Not too far away, if you wanted to eat like they did in the west, you can find Dove Creek.  It has been dubbed the Pinto Bean capitol of the world.  There is so much history tied to the state.  It was home to the world’s first rodeo on July 4th, 1869 in Deer Trail.

There is so much rich history and depth to the state of Colorado.  If you wanted to reside in a place where the sky seems to never end, this is perfect for you.  But there are a few things you did not know.

• Hundreds of Thousands of valentines are re-mailed from Loveland, Colorado each year.

• Katherine Lee Bates was inspired to write America the Beautiful, b the view from Pike Peak.

• The 13th step in the capitol building is exactly one mile above sea level.

• The tallest sand dune in the U.S. can be found outside of Alamosa.

• Rocky Ford is known as the Melon Capitol of the World.

There are many quirky things to learn about the state of Colorado.  You will have plenty of time to brush up on it when you move here.
